Paso Robles has long been a haven for horse lovers. From the rodeos of the Mid State Fair to the countless ranches surrounding the city, It’s no surprise that the area is constantly adding on new events and facilities. Here are a few upcoming events in the equine industry that are worth a trip to beautiful Paso Robles.
Working Ranch Horse Auction – November 7, 2015
The ‘Main Event’ Horse Auction is just about the best place to buy your next working ranch horse. Not only are these horses bred for performance by highly reputable horsemen, they’re on display so you can see what they can really do. Starting Friday November 7th at 5:30pm, you’ll get a chance to watch them in action with calf branding, roping, cow work and versatility. The event runs through Saturday and also features working stock dogs.
Paso Robles Horse Park
Paso Robles Horse Park is a new addition to the community, which recently opened back in May of this year. The park is 67 acres featuring a large turf field and five sand arenas. The facility boasts 240 permanent horse stalls (with the ability to accommodate up to 600 stalls), a large spectator area, bathrooms, RV sites with hookups, a 5,000 sq ft hay barn, two office buildings, 2 warm up areas and parking for up to 500 vehicles.
The park hosts several hunter and jumper events throughout the year, with two events coming up in October-November. The Central California Fall Classic: October 28 – November 1, and the Central California Oak Tree Classic: November 4-8. Click here for the full list of events.
California Mid State Fair Rodeo
Every summer the Equestrian Center at the fairgrounds is host to several days of rodeo events. From cutting to barrel racing to roping and everything in between, this is one of the biggest equestrian events in the area, and well worth the fair’s admission.
